Anyone lost their killick?

This handmade, handsome object is a killick, an anchor and it showed up on our deck last week while we were away for the day.

It is boating season, and we are happy to have it because it is another step in preparing for a boat. The first was building a dock last year.

So thanks, our anonymous benefactor, it is awesome.

  1. Yes indeed, I have to agree that this unique anchor is very handsome! And, well made too. Someone certainly possesses some highly skilled nautical talent, to craft such a cultural piece.

But, the real mystery, is not necessarily who deposited this fine piece of art on your deck, but how did you manage to wrestle it up the stairs to the upper deck? It would appear that those boulders would weigh a few pounds, no??

So, it wasn't I who lost his killick. A few marbles, perhaps, my patience - sometimes. But killick - not me. Thanks for checking, though.

And, for anyone else interested in more 'killick culture', read all about it here: http://www.explorenewfoundlandandlabrador.com/scenic-routes-avalon-region/the-killick-coast.htm
